Community Service Initiative

This was our final meeting for this project. We discuss about the final touch up of the mobile learning aids and also took photos of how to use the games for our final presentation. Here are the final outcome of our proposal items:: Logarithm Word Puzzle Scrabble We were very satisfied by the end product and the satisfaction of helping the community in our own way was great. We achieved our objective in completing this project. 

During this time frame, we designed all the modification we decided to implement to our proposal. My task was to create the scrabble photo card. The use of vegetables and fruits images. It did not take a long time as we were already familiar to using design software and the process of doing the card took around 20 minutes. The hardest part was to find pictures as the pictures needed to be attractive so that to make the students of ppoc to be interested into using our learning aid. For this proposal, we had different categories which consisted of vegetables, fruits, body parts and basic necessities. The purpose of this game was to work on their memory and help them learn new words. Another task which everyone in the group did was the cutting and pasting the images onto the puzzle pieces we bought earlier. This day we were very busy as there were a lot of stickers to be cut and paste onto the puzzle. 

Based on our previous presentation, our proposals were accepted but we needed to modify and implement our own design to it so that it would not be too simple. The first step was to buy the proposal items. We together as a group went to Kuala Lumpur it would be easier for us to find our proposal items there. There were a lot of shops and we found more than enough item to make our proposal successful. 

Research about proposal for the mobile learning aid For the first presentation, we were assigned to do a powerpoint about our proposal for the mobile learning aid. I research about the learning outcome and the purpose of designing a fun mobile learning aids for the disabled people. By the end of the day we had combined our ideas to bring out 3 final proposals which consist of proposal 1 based on numbers, proposal 2 based on  puzzle and proposal 3 based on scrabble and card. We also needed to research about the approximated price of our proposal as our group budget was 700rm. Presentation Day Our presentation is where we presented our proposal to the lecturers and classmates. Our ideas were accepted but as designer we shall also implement our own design instead of the just buying the games. Based on the lecturers feedback we knew what was to be done to make the proposal final.

Visit to Persatuan Pemulihan Orang-Orang Cacat (PPOC) The first week of community service initiative was where we visited the center where our activities would be done. The place was called PPOC in Selangor. The first week was basically the brief of the module and how the classes would be conducted. The class was divided into 5 groups which consisted each different task. The groups were the wall painting, the furniture, the mobile learning aids, fun fixed onto wall and the photo and video montage. I chose the mobile learning aids for the student of the center. We were 7 in the group. The same day we had our first lecture about the center, its student and our contribution to them. We also visited one of their classroom where the activities would be done. We also had the opportunity to talk to the student of ppoc so that to know what were they learning and how could we help them. The last announcement for the day was that there will be no class the next week...
